Do lizards get lonely? Are reptiles capable of emotions at any level? Have I done something awful by keeping Agnes shut up in a glass box in my bedroom, with no other members of her species to keep her company? If I were to buy a second anole, would it make her happy, or would she be territorial and try to attack a new guy?
These are the things I wonder, as I drive across the dark foothills in the middle of the night. It was mostly enough to keep me from falling asleep, but just barely. And now, the sounds of the feeder crickets chirping is more than enough to put me to sleep. In 3...2...1...
