Management Skills

Inspirational song: Where Can I Buy Some Time? (Phil Crews)

The week between the last two major holidays was fantastic. I hid from the world fairly successfully, but unfortunately for me, none of the things I was avoiding doing actually stopped needing attention. Nothing was truly on hold. It was just in a holding pattern waiting for me. Now I'm noticing afresh how much I need to take care of, and I'm at risk of becoming overwhelmed all over again.

In October I made myself extensive to-do lists, and that sort of worked to get me organized and productive. This month I may need to step up my game, and make a giant dry erase calendar hung on the wall. I didn't think about just how bad January was going to be while I was hiding in my room, watching the first two seasons of Game of Thrones, playing casino games on my iPad, and trying hard not to take anything stronger than Tylenol for a headache that lasted something like 744 hours straight. I don't think I have a whole day off anywhere in the course of the month. Not one.

I've run out of time for tonight. I have something I need to make before Thursday evening, and I didn't actually start working on it until tonight. I thought it would have been completed all the way by midnight tonight. Instead, just the framework took me until 1 am. I am totally screwed for time management skills in general, and this month is gonna do me in.
