A very beautiful girl got to ride the highest continuously paved road in the country today. She was an excellent companion, and even posed for a few pictures for her Twitter page.
We didn't get to traverse Trail Ridge Road last year, because 2020 was just so awful. I suggested this year we go two or three times, to make up for it. I have guests coming in July, who might enjoy that drive, and then of course we can go this fall when the aspens turn gold. We had to use a reservation system for timed entry, and I gotta say, that was nice. It made the line to get in a lot shorter. The whole place was less crowded too. It has been years since we have seen it so sparsely populated. We had no trouble parking anywhere along the route, and only encountered ludicrously slow drivers a few times (but oddly, each time they were from Nebraska).
Saoirse was terrific in the car. She was patient, calm, and entertained by open windows letting in all the good smells. She had her first puppy cup at the coffee drive-thru. She said hi to fellow travelers at stops. And she showed her first skill as a service dog, by pulling me up a few minor hills. Such a good girl.
