We got the band back together. This morning The Grump Express (as her mother called it) set out for our house. They arrived around 9, and we got a solid 7 hours of intensive baby time. She has grown so much in the almost-month since we watched her last. She is bigger, heavier, stronger, and way smarter. Today was so much fun.
She can sit up under her own power now, and can propel herself just about anywhere she wants to go. She can pull herself into a wobbly standing position, and stay that way as long as she has something to grasp firmly. We do have to be close by, because at any second she may topple over and then hold it against us, as if we pushed her. She had fun with the puppy and kitties, but I think she was most enthralled by the grandparents who just couldn't get enough of her.
Babbling has begun in earnest, and we are told she was more chatty today than she has been ever before. I take that to mean she is getting us caught up with what we missed. Most words were "ba ba ba," but she was sitting, facing away from me when Jackie walked by her. I swear the sound she made was somewhere between a repetitive short hiss and "khee khee." The Ks weren't clear, but I choose to believe she is working on identifying kitties, and maybe it will be her first non-mama or dada word.
