Springy

Inspirational song: Dead Flowers (The Rolling Stones)

Contrary to what anyone who read yesterday's blog could (and should) have predicted, I did not spend all day in bed today. Sure, I slept late, as expected. I woke up sore as heck, and started my morning with a little pharmaceutical assistance to get my muscles willing to propel me around the house. I would have happily done nothing from that point onward, but we had things to do.

The kids didn't come here today. My daughter, the instigator of yesterday's cleaning mission, took half a day off of work to rest up, but was also able to take the kids to the outdoor mall to see the Easter bunny. I watched all the videos she sent, but until I was looking for photos to put here, I hadn't opened the ones from the actual bunny encounter. There is a whole story in the facial expressions and body language of both kids. I'll put three or four pictures in order to show you.

We met the kids at Lowe's to pick up the microwave we pre-purchased on Thursday. We wandered the store, and my daughter picked out some plants for her house. There is a tendency in the houseplant collecting community to wonder who it is who buys all these majesty palms and ivy hanging baskets, as most of us aren't interested in them. Turns out it's folks like my daughter, that's who. She got two of each today, even though I made stink face at the ivy and said "spider mite magnet." For me, I didn't actually buy any new plants. I did go looking for a cover pot for my new sansevieria, and found a little straight-sided terracotta pot. There were two like it on the rack, but one had some cracking on the bottom. When we got up to the registers, my daughter tried three times to scan it, and it kept saying "item not found." I looked at it, and the sticker said Hobby Lobby. What it was doing at a Lowe's, I don't know. I took it anyway, and no, I did not go out of my way to find a way to pay them for inventory that wasn't theirs in the first place.

After I used my larger car to haul the microwave to the kids' house, I dropped off some donations at the thrift store and went to the King Soopers in the same shopping center. I slowed down passing the floral department, and the woman who worked there asked me if I liked cut flowers. I sort of mumbled about liking to grow them, and then she pointed out how they had a ton of bouquets on clearance, especially roses. Well, if I must... I ended up finding a huge bouquet of yellow and orange roses (my favorite kind) for over 80% off. Problem is, I haven't got many vases left that are big enough for them, after a year and a half of donating everything I rarely use. I need to use one of my home decor pieces, if there's a big one I can commandeer.
