Okay, look. It has been a hard year to be a Buffs fan. We lost the first five football games of the season, and not narrow losses. They were absolutely steamrollered. Two weeks ago, they bought out the contract of their head coach, and no one was surprised. I doubt even he was. Last week was a bye, so today was the first game with the interim head coach. And darned if those kids didn't finally pull out the win! It took overtime to do it, but that hurdle has been cleared. I was giddy all afternoon after the win. I was not the only one around here celebrating along with the students going bananas over in Boulder.
My babies came over for a while today. That girl's vocabulary keeps growing, and she is so dang cute when she's talking. The little man is getting so big and strong. He is happiest when he is "standing." We had a long conversation about toys, and he says he will be ready to play pretty soon, once he gets a little hand-eye coordination.
It was absolutely gorgeous outside, and we made the first few pruning choices on our trees. The fruit trees had too many really low branches, and the maple needed to come back a little to encourage the peach tree to grow into its space. The cherries didn't get pruned as severely as I feared they would need, so we shall see next year whether this was enough. While we were outside, Papa showed Valerie a bike he found for her during one of his salvage trips. She was a little afraid of it at first, but she warmed to the idea of it. It is massively too big for her now, but not for long.
