Valerie has been obsessed with forms of transportation for at least a year now. She has a particular fondness for airplanes. We've been promising her to go watch planes land at the airport for the last few weeks. We tried to finally make good on that promise today. Unfortunately, with the major change in the weather, there weren't a whole lot of small planes flying in and out of Vance Brand airport this afternoon. The kids still had fun playing on the scale model of the runway. We can try again later.
It has become a strange little habit of ours, using weekend time to take the kids shopping with the grandparents. I wonder what they will make of these frequent trips when they are older and think back on it. We save our grocery shopping and housewares shopping for weekends, so the kids have no choice but to go with us. We needed dog food and cat litter, so naturally we loaded up and walked all over Costco. I sure hope they have as much fun there as we think they do.
It was raining cats and and dogs when we left Costco. The kids were dressed in summer clothes. Not long after we got the whole damp family inside, we tossed the kids into a warm bubble bath. Dmitri watched me brush out Valerie's hair afterwards. He grabbed the hairbrush and followed her around the living room for the next twenty minutes, trying to do the same. He has no finesse, so she did not appreciate his efforts. He mostly just bonked her head with the brush, and at least once poked her face with the bristles. With training, though, I might be able to turn over keeping her hair tidy to him someday.
