Alpine Adventure Wednesday came two days early this week. We had an extra babysitting day today and the appliance repair man is coming to look at the washer on Wednesday, so today was the best opportunity for fun.
We took the kids up to the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, via Nederland, for a hike. We started at the Nederland carousel, then to the café built of train cars next to it. After that, we went up to hike. Our timed entry was to the Mitchell Lake trailhead, but Mr S-P wanted to take the kids around Long Lake which was a shorter, flatter hike. I'm still moving very slowly and gingerly, so they dropped me off at the Long Lake trailhead, then parked where our pass was for. The kids rode in the wagon for the beginning and end of the hike. They did super well on the walk to the lake. Valerie jumped on every single rock on the path, falling a few times. Dmitri staggered like he was noticing the lack of oxygen, so I'm really glad it was a short day. Both kids were sound asleep before we left the boundary of the wilderness area.
Enough talk. It will take me ages to select and upload pictures, so enjoy!
