There may come a day when going shopping with the grandparents is a drag for Val and Dmitri, but thank heaven that day is not today. We covered nearly the whole store, and they were on board with it almost all the way through. Dmitri had come in still buckled in his car seat, sleeping for the first twenty minutes we were there, so by the end he wanted to be free of restraint.
I got an impulse item while there, in furtherance of my determination not to install air conditioning in my house until it is truly unavoidable. They had those super heavy duty fans like they use at construction sites. We brought it home and plugged it in while the kids were playing with blocks. They gravitated to it as if under a spell. They stood there and let it blow their hair around, giggling. It might just make this place tolerable on Monday when it gets into the triple digits.
I should have started writing earlier in the evening, before the details started fading. It's too late to think of fun stories to tell. I'll come up with something good tomorrow.
