The best laid schemes o' grandmas and grandpas gang oft a-gley.
Our Christmas tree is still undecorated. It still has two mis-matched strands of lights thrown haphazardly up it, just as I left it days ago. We wanted Valerie to decorate it with us, but she had other ideas, like drawing hearts on my front door, lining up crayons on the floor, dancing, and eating an entire order of chicken mcnuggets (first time I've ever seen her finish them). She was an absolute dream today, compared to some of the cranky toddler days we have been through before. But alas, still the naked tree exists.
She gave me a lot of latitude to continue cleaning the kitchen, and she kept me company for a lot of it. She didn't complain when I used enough bleach on the counter to make it smell like a public swimming pool in the whole house. Dmitri was pretty accommodating too, for an almost 5 month old kid. He sat in his rocket car a lot, only insisting on getting out when it was time to eat, sleep, or have clean pants. He and grandpa watched Muppet Christmas Carol while Valerie was determined to be anywhere else.
We do have a couple spots decorated, like the evergreen and ornament display I put on the side table, and the glitter tree (think snow globe, but with glitter and shaped like a Christmas tree). Valerie is very interested in both of them, to the point of climbing up on things to study them. It's only a problem when the candle is lit on the side table.
