Put six puppies in an enclosed pen in the middle of a chain pet store and what do you get? Chaos! Non-stop wrestling! Sore backs from leaning forward on hard little stools, pulling on the leashes to rein in our little monsters. And you get a pup who is so thoroughly worn out that she forgot to cry in the car on the way home (well, past the first mile), and who went and lay down on her kennel bed and stayed over an hour ago.
Saoirse's classmates are super cute. There was a baby Corgi named Delilah, I'm gonna guess a bichon frise named Miko, a short haired brown mixed-breed baby named Forrest, a brindle great dane named Knox, and a mastiff named Maggie. At first Knox was between Saoirse and Maggie, and the teacher had us switch seats, because he was feeling boxed in. After that, it was the Saoirse and Maggie show. I could barely hear anything over the sound of these two having the time of their puppy lives.
I think we learned some valuable skills, but there was just too much distraction for me and Saoirse to focus on each other. I am equally worn out from all the excitement. We shall see whether we improve on practice tomorrow.
It was also a grandbaby day. She has had a lot of tummy upset, and after a trip to Children's Hospital, they said it is probably just reflux. I can understand how that would make her extra grumpy, so I just rolled with it and tried to be as soothing as possible when she started to get cranky. For the most part, that worked. She had a pretty good day, with just a few uncomfortable screamy bits.
